How to test the effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide sterilization method


Usually, sterile pharmaceutical factories use formaldehyde fumigation for sterilization in clean areas, but as people pay more and more attention to the harm of formaldehyde, many pharmaceutical companies have begun to replace formaldehyde with hydrogen peroxide sterilization. On the one hand, it avoids human safety issues, and on the other hand, it can also be considered as corporate welfare. Moreover, compared to many enterprises with high production capacity, formaldehyde fumigation takes two to three days to remove residues each time, while hydrogen peroxide sterilization can usually be completed within 2-6 hours from the beginning of sterilization to the safe entry of personnel, saving a lot of time and reducing the loss of production capacity. This article focuses on the commonly used testing methods for the sterilization effect of hydrogen peroxide sterilization.

1. Biological indicator distribution: Thermophilic Bacillus subtilis is commonly used for vaporization sterilization, while Bacillus subtilis is commonly used for nebulization equipment sterilization. Select log3, log6, etc. according to the sterilization level requirements of the user unit. After sterilization, place the biological indicator in the culture medium and observe the cultivation results in a constant temperature incubator at an appropriate cultivation temperature.

 


 

2. Chemical indicator card assistance: Various types of hydrogen peroxide color cards are arranged at various sterilization risk points or remote points in the sterilization area. The chemical indicator card will change color when encountering hydrogen peroxide, and some chemical indicator cards can display different colors according to the concentration of hydrogen peroxide.
